Meadow Hall is blessed with people of great ability to entertain and to impress upon the values and vision of our school, which is to raise excellent and Godly children who will attain their highest potential in life and the mission to promote co-curricular activities in order to develop the children’s and social skills. Therefore, it was indeed a pleasure that Morayo Okungbowa, a student of Meadow Hall bagged most of the medals at the DAWN Games in Lagos, recently. She won a total of eleven gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal making a total of thirteen medals. This has been termed the highest haul of medals won by any individual athlete at the DAWN Games so far; an achievement which will be impossible for any other athlete to match or surpass at the games.
Bright and tall Morayo Okungbowa was one of the athletes adjudged the most outstanding athlete at the competition hosted by the Lagos State government making proud the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola and his deputy, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire.
An intelligent lady with great character and poise, Morayo originally began swimming at age 4, then competitive swimming at age 10 when she joined the swim squad and began participating in the Swimming Festival in Arnsberg-Neheim. Morayo has won a gold medal in the 400metres individual medley, silver in the 50metres butterfly and bronze in recent years.
Meadow Hall encourages the strengths, intelligence and creative skill of children and this has had Morayo at the top of her game, being on top of her grades and on the honours roll. Morayo being a beautiful singer and a wonderful actress has won the athlete of the year award, the COBIS award in 2012 for students’ achievement, Gifted and Talented in Music, Literacy, Arts and Design & Technology. Meadow Hall challenges the individual wherein the students see every challenge as an opportunity to rise. We at Meadow Hall celebrate progress, success and excellence. Therefore, we recognise and celebrate Morayo Okungbowa
